the fire of God’s judgment is not. Leviticus 10:2 states that in response to this violation by Aaron’s sons fire burst forth from the presence of the Lord and consumed the bodies of Nadab and Abihu. “They died before the LORD.”84 The fire mentioned in 10:2 is the same fire that came from the presence of God in 9:24 in celebration of the obedient priestly response to God’s instructions for the inauguration of the priesthood.
